Smash Bros Brawl Receives Perfect Score

January 16, 2008

Though gamers in Japan are already playing SSBB, North Americans will have to wait for the release date of March 9. We should actually consider ourselves lucky; Europe has yet to confirm a release date for Nintendo’s latest fighter at all, so we got it good. Another comforting word would be that our wait will not be in vain, for the latest issue of the gaming magazine Famitsu has given Brawl a perfect score. This is especially interesting considering their rating system: four editors give their score out of ten. If all four give the game a ten the game gets the perfect score of 40. This has only happened with a choice few games before it, so for Smash Bros fans this is good news indeed.

When asked if Bionic Commando would ever get a Wii version, Capcom’s Ben Judd said: “It will largely depend on what the fans want for the future of Bionic Commando. If the interest is there, of course we want as many people as possible to appreciate this great franchise.”

So, just spreading the word on the Bionic Commando on the Wii petition. Want Bionic Commando on the Wii? Then, sign the petition! Online petitions are a long shot, but it’s a step in the right direction.

Ubisoft has now officially revealed Assassin’s Creed: Altair Chronicles via a recent press release.

London, United Kingdom – 15 January 2008 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, unveiled Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles™, exclusively for the Nintendo DS™. The Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles video game will be available at retailers nationwide in February.

Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles is the direct prequel of the critically acclaimed console title Assassin’s Creed™, where players discover more about the protagonist Altaïr and his deep history. The game features a fully realized 3D world in which players will travel and battle through four cities of the Crusade’s Middle East, using acrobatic moves and exhilarating combo attacks that mix sword skills and high-flying kicks.

“The success of Assassin’s Creed worldwide has been incredible and we’re excited to delve deeper into the story and bring it to the Nintendo DS,” said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles will be a title that resonates with those who played the console version as well as those who have yet to discover the secrets of Assassin’s Creed.”

Assassin’s Creed Altaïr’s Chronicles is rated “12+” by PEGI and has a retail price of £29.99. For more information, please visit http://www.assassinscreed.com.

Anyone who’s checked out the game’s box art knows most of this. I guess Ubisoft wanted to get a word in after Go Nintendo spilled the beans.

Smash Bros Delayed. Again.

January 15, 2008

Once again, Nintendo has bumped Super Smash Brothers Brawl‘s release date forward, this time from February 10 to March 9, 2008. Here’s the official word,

“The launch date for Super Smash Bros. Brawl has shifted a few weeks to March 9. The development is taking slightly longer than expected. As we’re sure you have seen on the Dojo site (www.SmashBros.com), the game contains an unprecedented number of characters, options and experiences. Be sure to keep an eye on the Dojo site for the latest information.”

Unfortunate for gamers eager to check this game out, but let’s hope the release date is set for good this time.

Factor 5 Returns To Big N

January 15, 2008

Good news from IGN concerning the developer Factor 5,

“In a phone conversation with IGN Wii this morning, company president Julian Eggebrecht confirmed that the studio is underway with at least one all-new Wii project — and it’s not a Virtual Console game. Beyond that confirmation, Eggebrecht was mum, but he did note that the new title would not simply re-use old Rogue Squadron tech; whatever it is, significantly updated or even completely new tech has been developed to help accommodate it.”

I’ll say it, we’re all thinking it: PS3’s Lair(Factor 5’s last big project) had some serious tech and gameplay issues, despite the games good visuals. But that’s a whole different story. So, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron fans will be happy to hear that Factor 5 has left the Dark Side(Sony). Welcome back to the ways of the Jedi. Now, make us that Wii game.

First Assassin’s Creed DS Details

January 11, 2008

Looks like the Nintendo fans are going to get into some of the action that was originally exclusive to the ps3 and xbox 360. Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles is due for release this February on the Nintendo DS, and will feature a different storyline than the console version.

Thank Go Nintendo for the heads up on the box art (above). The player will be using the DS stylus to pickpocket and interrogate enemies. The gameplay itself appears to be more Prince of Persia oriented, and will include swordfights, stealth kills, and combat combos while using acrobatic moves to navigate a detailed, 3d-rendered world.
